Sun Returns: Work Week Forecast for Somers and Yorktown

After a week of hiding the sun returned on Sunday afternoon. And the good news is it will remain for awhile before it goes back to hiding for part of the weekend.

The work week forecast is better across the board. Last week we were stuck in the 50s for the most part and dealing with showers all week. This week: plenty of sun and the temps will rise above 70 degrees.

"We received some much needed rainfall. But finally, we have kicked that weather pattern, and sunshine has returned to the Hudson Valley," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Here's the National Weather Service forecast for northern Westchester County:

• Today-Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. West winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph this afternoon.
• Tonight-Mostly clear. Lows around 40. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph...becoming north around 5 mph after midnight.
• Tuesday-Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Tuesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s. Southwest winds around 5 mph...becoming northwest after midnight.
• Wednesday-Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. North winds around 5 mph...becoming west in the afternoon. Wednesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows around 50.
• Thursday-Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s.
• Thursday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening...then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Friday-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 60s. Chance of rain 40 percent.
• Friday Night-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers. A chance of thunderstorms in the evening. Lows in the lower 50s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
