Boys hoop playoffs

Lakeland traveled to Spring Valley on Feb. 15 for a Section 1 Class A outbracket game and the result is one it will never forget.

Trailing by as much as 19 points in the third quarter, the Hornets rallied for a wild 63-62 win.

Lakeland's Tyler Troppmann scored 10 of his 16 points in the final quarter, including a 3-point play with 36 seconds remaining and a put-back with 10 seconds left in the thrilling contest.

The win puts No. 17 Lakeland in an opening-round game at No. 1 Tappan Zee tonight. See the bottom of this page for scheduling information.

Girls playoff hoops

Lakeland traveled to Rye for an outbracket contest in Class A Feb. 15, falling 34-23.

Rebels in playoffs

No. 14 Lakeland/Panas will compete in the opening round of the Division 1 ice-hockey playoffs when it travels to No. 3 New Rochelle for a faceoff at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19.
