Vote Kesten to fight for Public Schools

Letter to the Editor:

In regards to the upcoming New York State Senate election in District 40, I am writing to endorse Robert Kesten’s position on Charter Schools. Importantly, I also hope to shine a light on the dangers of the Trump/Terrance Murphy education agenda.

As we approach the 2018 election, New York State has an opportunity to take a national leadership role in support of improving the education for all students. We must use our vote to dump the Trump/Murphy agenda that is funded by the Conservative and Republican big money backers. The right wing extremist agenda, symbolized by the incredibly incompetent Betsy Devos, is dead set on eroding the quality of our local schools by trying everything they can to siphon local resources for more Charter, private and for-profit schools. They must be stopped!

It is also curious how Murphy is taking money from Charter School advocates that benefit NYC schools! Why is Murphy focusing on NYC politics, and will he plan on bringing the Charter issue to Westchester?

As a former School Principal, I understand the importance of supporting quality public education and appropriate school accountability. The truth is, the Trump/Devos/Murphy tactic of pushing Charter and for-profit schools at the expense of quality public schools, is unconscionable. Join me in support of Robert Kesten. Dump Terrance Murphy!
