Yorktown To Allow Alcohol Consumption At Select Parks
The sale of alcohol will only be allowed at two of the four town parks, officials said.

YORKTOWN, NY — The town of Yorktown put in place ways for residents to be able to drink alcohol in four of its municipal parks.
The Town Board voted Tuesday to create permits to allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages at Par 3 Golf Course, Railroad Park, Sparkle Lake service building and Downing Park.
In addition to a town permit, alcohol sales at the golf course and Railroad Park will require a permit from the New York State Liquor Authority.

The sale of alcohol, if permits come to fruition, will only be allowed at the golf course and Railroad Park. The permits at Sparkle Lake and Downing Park will allow people who rent town facilities for birthday parties and other celebrations to serve alcohol to guests; no sales will be allowed.
Supervisor Matt Slater said that it's not a blanket authorization for anyone to go to a town park and drink alcohol.

"Especially at Railroad Park," he said, "keep in mind that it does require multiple levels of approvals before it's allowed."
The permitting process will be administered by the town clerk's office, officials said.
