There is nothing hotter than a nice warm gym in the winter time as plenty of local fans were on hand to witness the boys basketball squad's opener against visiting John Jay Dec. 12.
Tyler Schlomann registered a game-high 11 points for the Huskers in Yorktown's 48-34 loss to John Jay.

Ice-hockey results
Led by goals from Adam Greene and Austin Haddock, Yorktown won its fifth game in a row with a 2-1 triumph against Kennedy/Putnam Valley at the Brewster Ice Arena Dec. 11.
Lakeland/Panas fell 8-1 to Ryetown/Harrison at the Playland Ice Casino Dec. 12.
Bryan O’Keefe scored the Rebels' goal, which was assisted by Christian Gjelaj and Ryan Lynagh.

Girls youth hoops
Yorktown has a squad this winter that will be competing in the Tri-County Basketball League's eighth-grade division.
