Yorktown's ice-hockey squad enjoyed a great season and earned proper recognition as it garnered numerous postseason awards given out by the Section 1 coaches, as reported by Mike Dougherty on the LoHud Hockey Blog.

Randy Ashe was named the Conference 1A Player of the Year, Jake Proscia earned the conference's Doc Rasbeck Scholarship Award and its coach, Bob Fritsche, was named Coach of the Year in the conference.

Women's Softball

Cassie Reilly-Boccia (Yorktown '08) is a senior outfielder/first baseman for the Alabama Crimson Tide which is ranked No. 1 in the country.

The Tide improved their record to a perfect 22-0 with a 5-1 triumph against No. 14 Oregon (18-4) March 13.

The Tide took the early lead when Reilly-Boccia hit a solo home run that caromed off the top of the wall in left in the fourth inning. The home run was her fourth on the season.

Boys Youth Hoops

Yorktown and the Shrub Oak blitz both participated in the Brewster Sports Center Super League seventh-grade B playoffs.

Both played great games but fell just short in the opening round.

No. 3 Shrub Oak lost to the No. 6 Dutchess Diamonds 34-32 Feb. 23 and No. 4 Yorktown was bested by No. 5 Hoops Express 37-33 Feb. 27.
