The Mercy College men’s lacrosse squad bested East Coast Conference-foe Molloy College in thrilling fashion tonight (March 28), 12-11 in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The 12th and go-ahead goal was scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation by Yorktown resident John Fitzpatrick (Lakeland '09).

In addition, subbing in for an injured T.J. DiCarlo (reigning Division II Goalkeeper of the Year), second-string goalkeeper Mike Cashman (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded eight saves in his first career collegiate start and kept the Mavericks in the contest long enough for them to pull out an exhilarating victory.

Boys Lacrosse

What many consider the best boys lacrosse rivalry in Section 1, John Jay and Yorktown, took place again at historic Charlie Murphy Field in Yorktown Saturday afternoon with Yorktown winning 8-6.

The Huskers were led by Frankie Fusco, who had the game-winning goal, and Conor Gately, with three goals apiece.

For a game story, see Mike Dougherty's piece on LoHud.com.

As for those who couldn't make it or want to watch the game again, MSG Varsity will be broadcasting the game tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Ranagan Nets Five

Yorktown's Stefanie Ranagan registered five goals, including the game-winner with six seconds left in the Huskers' thrilling 17-16 triumph against visiting John Jay March 28 in girls lacrosse.

Teammates Bianca Raniolo tallied four goals and four assists and Emily Concialdi recorded four goals.
