Yorktown High School Band welcomes, thanks veterans

Veterans come to Yorktown High School to thank YHS Band students for marching in Yorktown's annual Memorial Day event.

Yorktown Heights, NY, May 26, 2017 -- Yorktown High School Band practiced this week for the group's participation in the annual Yorktown Memorial Parade.

Before rehearsal on Wednesday the musician-students met with local veterans and had a chance to ask them questions and thank them for their service. The veterans in turn thanked the students for being part of the parade and remembering them and other veterans on Memorial Day.

Here is who came to YHS this year: Mr. Fred Wooding (U.S. Coast Guard), and Mr. Calcutta (U.S. Navy). Yorktown Councilman Vishnu Patel also spoke about his children and their service to our country. The two students in the photo are Connor Clarke (Concert Band President, class of 2017) and Wayne Walsh (Concert Band Vice President, class of 2018).
