Yorktown Police Say Apple Scam Making Rounds

The calls are made from a spoofed phone number, making it look as if the call is coming from "Apple."

YORKTOWN, NY — The latest scam making the rounds concerns Apple Inc., according to a Facebook post by the Yorktown Police Department. Authorities said calls are made from a spoofed phone number, making it look as if the call is coming from "Apple."

People who received the calls said they have been told their account was compromised or some other issue exists with their iPhone or laptop.

The remedy from the scammer is for the victim to buy gift cards and give the caller the serial numbers.
