Don't forget to vote May 19 whether you reside in the Lakeland, Somers or Yorktown school district!

New York residents are asked to vote on their local school district’s budget and board of education May 19. Here are fast facts about the elections in Lakeland, Yorktown and Somers.
Lakeland
Voting information
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Van Cortlandtville Elementary School, Route 6, Mohegan Lake.

Board of Education
Four candidates are vying for three seats. Terms are up for incumbent Trustees James B. Carroll, Jr., Carol Ann Dobson and Brian Hugick. Dobson is running for re-election. Also on the ballot are Michael Cherchia, Karen Pressman and Mike Daly.
School budget
- Proposed for 2015-16: $161,174,165
- Increase over current spending: 0 percent
- Tax levy increase: 0.50 percent

Somers
Voting information
7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Somers Middle School gym, 250 Rt. 202, Somers, NY
Board of Education
There are three open seats: The terms of Sarena Meyer and Michael D’Anna will expire June 30. The term of Harvey Kriedberg was vacated April 7. The two candidates receiving the largest number of votes will be elected for three-year terms and the third largest number of votes will be elected to a term ending June 30, 2017.
The candidates are: Michael D’Anna, Sarena D. Meyer and Chadwick Olsen.
School budget
- Proposed spending for 2015-16: $86,619,022
- Increase over current budget: 1.30 percent
- Tax levy increase: 1.57 percent

Yorktown
Voting information
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mohansic Elementary School, 704 Locksley Road.
Board of Education
Trustees Jackie Carbone and Christine Montero are running for re-election.

- Increase over current budget: 0.5 percent
- Tax levy increase: 0.98 percent
