Yorktown's No Limit Ballers 11U Team Wins Long Island Tournament

The No Limit Ballers, a summer lacrosse team comprised of 5th and 6th graders from Yorktown and Arlington, kicked off their season last month in the Long Island Big Time Shootout.

The Ballers played six grueling games in this single day tournament held at Harbor Links Fields in Farmingdale, New York on June 25. The team was 3 and 1 in the seeding round, with their only loss coming in overtime to Team Lighthouse, a Long Island elite team comprised primarily of 7th graders.

Their record earned them a #3 seed and a rematch with Lighthouse.  Under the direction of Yorktown High School Varsity Coach Dave Marr, the Ballers avenged their earlier defeat with a 9 to 7 victory, highlighted by crisp passing, high energy and dynamic team chemistry.

The win put the Ballers into the Championship Game against the #1 seed, The Gamerz, a regional team from New Jersey. With the same determined spirit, the Yorktown players broke a 6-to-6 tie with under four minutes to play and ultimately prevailed with a hard fought 8-to-6 win, capturing the title.

Under the guidance from head coach Marr and coaches Rocky Bonitatibus and Jack Phelan, the Ballers's attack was led by Reese Andrews, Riley Carroll, Ryan Ferrara, Richie Giannasca, Nick Nieves, Joey Phelan and Brian Weir. The midfield was dominated by Michael Broder, Justin Comerford, Hunter Embury, Jamison Embury, Dante Esposito, Chris Frey, Tyler McDonald, Louis Ragusa and Christian Torres. Lockdown defense was driven by Connor Koelsch, Connor Lampersberger, Brett Makar, Brandon Meyreles and Chris Perrino; and the team’s goaltending was provided by Daniel O’Meara and Shane Sullivan.
