• Cary town leaders meeting Monday night to work on spending plan (wral.com) — Cary officials are meeting Monday evening to overhaul the town's financial practices after a massive state audit found savings below required levels and flagged questionable spending on travel, meals, and retreats. Leaders say they're moving quickly on 39 recommendations, with most expected to be under active review by week's end as they work to better protect taxpayer dollars.

How to find your neighborhood (newsobserver.com) — Many Cary neighborhoods between N.C. 55 and I-40 are under a boil-water advisory after a major 30-inch main break on N.C. 55, prompting early school dismissals and lane closures. If you're unsure whether you're affected, the town urges you to check your address on its Central Pressure Zone map and boil tap water for at least one minute or use bottled water until at least early Tuesday.
   

• Cary teens help seniors avoid scams as IRS sees rise in elder fraud (wral.com) — Cary readers will recognize Green Level High junior Viraj Shah, whose nonprofit Click With Confidence sends local teens into senior centers to teach older adults how to spot scams. Investigators say North Carolina seniors are increasingly targeted, with billions lost nationwide, and urge people to slow down, verify requests, and never share sensitive information with unexpected callers or emails.
