Here are the top stories in Durham today:
- Durham police are seeking community help to identify the person responsible for a Wednesday night hit-and-run. A pedestrian was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital after being hit at West Club Boulevard and Dollar Avenue. Security video shows the driver was in a white sedan, but no other information has been provided. (WRAL)
- Durham Police have identified the victim of Friday night's Holloway Street fatal shooting. 28-year-old Saquan Facyson was pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived. (abc11) With this and other incidents of violence, some families are flooded with memories as they wait for answers in years-old cases of their own. (abc11)
- A family in Durham has turned their memories of wife and mother Tahisha Harrison into the driving force behind a drive to collect shoes for kids in need. Harrison battled with cancer and passed a few years back, and with this time of year bringing back many emotions, the family has collected between 175 and 200 pairs of shoes to give in her honor. - 18 workers have been terminated over refusal to comply with the state executive order requiring vaccination or weekly testing. The 18 individuals represent only 0.03% of the workforce that the order extended to. (NewsTimes)
- Congressman Dan Bishop of North Carolina's 9th congressional district has announced a lawsuit to demand that the Sate Supreme Court and Court of Appeals judges reveal their votes in the decision to push back the 2022 primary
. Bishop is seeking bipartisan transparency but has called out Jimmy Ervin who filed for office before the vote. (AP News)
