Here are the top stories in Durham today:
- A two-story Durham home on Stebor Street caught fire around 5:30 am on Sunday morning. The blaze took 36 firefighters 30 minutes to get under control and the fire caused heavy damage throughout the home. The home was unoccupied at the time and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. (CBS17)
- Hundreds were without power after storms traveled through central North Carolina on Saturday. The heavy band of weather brought down trees and left a flood advisory in place for many areas. (WRAL)
- The Durham Performing Arts Center has released its schedule for the upcoming Broadway season. The lineup includes "Disney's Frozen," "Moulin Rouge" and more. Season seat packages are already on sale, and tickets to individual shows will go on sale later this year. (WRAL)
- Twenty-two new firefighters graduated from the Fire Department Academy's 32nd graduation ceremony. The graduates have gone into a number of fire departments after completing approximately 1,200 hours of training. (City Manager's Report)
- As the 2022 midterm elections loom on the horizon, it's no wonder North Carolina is a highly contested battleground state. A look at voter registration data from the N.C. State Board of Elections shows that unaffiliated voters outnumber identified Republicans, Democrats and Libertarians. (WCNC)
