Here are the top stories today in Durham:

  1. Duke University announced that head coach David Cutcliffe will not return for a 15th season as football coach. The school announced the "mutual agreement for separation" following the Blue Devil's winless Atlantic Coast Conference record. (The Telegraph)
  2. The next phase of engagement for the City's Engage Durham Comprehensive Plan is today and will focus on East Durham. (The City of Durham)
  3. Earlier this year, the North Carolina General Assembly authorized a database that will track incidents in which police officers kill or injure someone in North Carolina. The database will be available to law enforcement agencies in order to help them weed out problem officers, but the database will not be made public in spite of police reform advocates push. (abc15)
  4. The North Carolina State Controller, Linda Combs is asking the Court of Appeals to strike the order for $1.75 billion in education funding. Combs believes that State Superior Court Judge W. David Lee has no jurisdiction over her office, since she is not a specifically listed party in the Leandro lawsuit that prompted the order. (WRAL)
  5. Jeimy Henrriquez, the 15-year-old girl that was missing from her North Miami Beach home was found safe. Police have not said if she was found in North Carolina after her phone was pinged in the state, and no information has been released about the suspects or details of her experience. (CBS17)
