Here are the top stories in Durham today:

  1. A car stolen from North Roxboro Street on Thursday afternoon was found a few hours later when police were called to the scene of a crash on Dearborn Drive. The car appears to have been take onto a foot path and crashed into a street sign. Police have not made an arrest in the carjacking and no injuries were reported. (WRAL)
  2. A 24-year-old man was arrested on a variety of charges after a domestic incident led him to ram his car into another person's vehicle. Jordan Jefferys was in an altercation with a woman, and after she exited the vehicle, a witness nearby pulled over to pick her up. Jefferys began ramming the witnesses vehicle after that. (CBS17)
  3. The real estate market in the Triangle has been hot for some time now, and as people try to find short-term rentals while searching for a permanent home to purchase, the rental market is feeling the effects. The cost of renting in North Carolina is among 10 states seeing the highest jump, with Durham going as high as 40%. (abc11)
  4. Icelandair has announced a new seasonal service that will add Raleigh-Durham International to their route network. The service will offer non-stop flights from NC to Iceland with connections in Europe. (Aviation24)
  5. After cases of Omicron were confirmed in Charlotte, the variant has now been identified Orange County. The Orange County Health Department confirmed that a recent case was caused by the omicron variant on Friday. (WRAL)
