Here are the top stories today in Durham:

  1. Durham Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that took place at approximately 4:30 pm on Wednesday. A woman driving on the I-85 overpass lost control of her vehicle in a curve. Three children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and one infant had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. (CBS17)
  2. Ponysaurus Brewing has launched the Fund for the Fabulous campaign to raise money for the queer community in Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson's name. Brewery Co-founders David Baldwin and Nick Hawthorne-Johnson are also extending an invitation to the Lt. Governor to visit and have a conversation about his views. (INDY Week)
  3. Durham Public Schools hosted a job fair yesterday to try to fill more than half of its school nurse positions that are currently vacant. The starting pay for school nurses in the district is $47,200 which is higher than that in surrounding areas. (WRAL)
  4. New details have come to light in the Black Friday shooting at the Streets at Southpoint. The shooting occurred as a result of an attempted robbery. Two individuals attempted to rob a jewelry salesman, and the individual who was selling jewelry remained at the scene following the incident while one of the suspected robbers remains hospitalized. Police are still looking for help identifying the second suspect in the incident. (CBS17)
  5. A Durham man is celebrating a longstanding prediction coming to fruition as he claimed $100,000 in winnings from a $20 Ultimate 7 ticket. David Hosmer told his wife regularly he would win the lottery and at 68, he can finally say 'I-told-ya-so.' (WRAL)
