Here are the top stories today in Durham:

  1. The Triangle community has come together in a big way to raise over $25,000 for a couple that received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis while pregnant with twins. Venelina Vateva gave birth to the children, but also learned that she has a rare mutation that is preventing medicine from helping alleviate her cancer. (WRAL)
  2. Raleigh-Durham International Airport was unable to serve some passengers due to a water leak that caused a major power outage on Friday morning. The water leaked onto an electrical box causing an outage that impacted ticketing, security, and gate bridges, as well as other systems. (WXII12)
  3. Durham County continues to see increased demand for housing, but according to ABC11's I-Team, more than 21% of single-family home sales in the area have been purchased by buyers who have purchased more than one property. (abc11)
  4. Durham is home to a variety of businesses, and on Veterans Day, Discover Durham created a list of some of the local veteran owned businesses you can support. (DiscoverDurham)
  5. The City of Durham is excited to welcome back the holidays and has set up an event for your pets to get time with Santa. On December 3, the Durham Armory will host fur friends for an exciting Christmas celebration. (Instagram)
