🌱 Leaders Discuss Mathison St. Shooting + County Burn Ban Lifted

Here are the top 4 stories today in Durham:

  1. Several Durham leaders held a joint briefing on Monday afternoon regarding the Mathison Street shootings. You can view the briefing here. Durham police said that the group of six youths were in a stolen vehicle when they were shot early Monday. (CBS17)
  2. The burn ban that was in effect for 33 North Carolina counties, including Durham county, has been lifted thanks to weekend rainfall. The city of Durham has also lifted its own recreational burn ban. (Spectrum News 1, City of Durham)
  3. Two Durham firefighters were injured while fighting a fire in East Durham on Tuesday morning. 39 firefighters and 7 EMS personnel arrived to the single-story home, and it took them about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The two injured firefighters and one individual present at the home were taken to hospitals and are in stable condition. (CBS17)
  4. Durham ranked No. 14 in an analysis of the most populous 100 cities in the U.S. for those looking to have a fully remote-based job or career. All of the North Carolina cities that performed well did so because of low unemployment, cost of living, and high percentages of occupied homes with 2 bedrooms or more. (TechWire)
