Here are the top stories today in Durham:
- A Durham commissioner is the has announced that she will be running for congress. Nida Allam was elected to the Durham County Board of Commissioners in 2020 and was the first Muslim woman in North Carolina elected to any public office. (CBS17)
- The infrastructure bill that congress approved on Friday will bring hundreds of millions of dollars to North Carolina. The money will help repair highways and bridges and expand broadband access in low-income and rural communities. (WRAL)
- All lanes of NC Highway 55 were closed down after police discovered the body of 31-year-old Jamal McClinton Coltrane in a stopped car. Officers believe that the Coltrane was shot while driving his vehicle. (CBS17, abc11)
- On Sunday night two individuals were hurt in a separate shooting and left with non-life-threatening injuries. (WRAL)
- The family of Jasmine Harbison is working to honor her life and searching for answers after she was hit trying to help the victims of a car accident in Durham. (abc11)
