Happy National Fruitcake Day Durham!

First, today's weather:

Mild with clouds and sun. High: 61 Low: 55.

Here are the top five stories today in Durham:

  1. Residents of the Braswell Apartments learned that no tenants would be evicted at this time. Although the eviction was a clause in the sales contract of the properties, Current owner says that they "jumped the gun" on the process. (WRAL)
  2. Angela Bullock, owner of Bullock's BBQ is hoping for a Christmas time miracle this year. When Angela was 12 years old, she was diagnosed with diabetes. After a transplant following kidney failure things seemed to be working until November 2020 when she was put back on dialysis. Now she is in need of a kidney transplant from a living donor. (abc11)
  3. Although RDU had a relatively smooth day on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day was impacted by nationwide cancelations. It was uncertain if the impacts were a result of COVID or the weather, but as thousands went through RDU, the impacts were felt. (WRAL)
  4. Weather in the Triangle was unseasonably warm on Christmas Day. Many in Durham took advantage of the temperatures by going out and enjoying the two loop parkrun. (Durham, NC Parkrun, abc11)
  5. Christmas Day tends to be the slowest day for births as many opt to schedule planned cesareans or inductions on other days, but Triangle hospitals gave special welcomes to the first Christmas babies. (abc11)
