Good morning, Durham! Here's everything you need to know to get this Saturday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Rain until evening. Temps: High of 70° & low of 62°

Here are the top stories today in Durham:

  1. NC elections officials are calling the Republican-led effort to investigate voting machines a "stunt." One claim against the voting machines said that they were changing votes through an internet link. State law says that voting machines are not allowed to be connected to the internet to limit the risk of cyber interference and they do not have modems. (WNCT9)
  2. Durham police are investigating a hit-and-run that happened on Wednesday night near N. Duke Street and Markham Ave around 8:45 pm. The pedestrian was walking his dog and was critically injured and transported to the hospital. The dog was not hurt. (CBS17)
  3. The Durham city council had a session on Thursday that was closed for a portion of the discussion about crime. The two main points of discussion at the meeting were crime and outdoor dining. The details surrounding crime and ongoing investigations were confidential. (abc11)
  4. A new analysis by LendingTree identified Raleigh as the best place to start a small business followed closely by Charlotte at #3 and Durham at #4. The study ranked the 100 largest metros in the US from best to worst for small businesses and many southern cities took the top spots. (WRAL)
