Here are the top stories today in Durham:

  1. Durham police responded to a reported shooting around 3:00am on Monday. When officers arrived six juveniles had been shot. Two of the victims died at the scene and four others were taken to the hospital, at least one in critical condition. Police do not believe the incident was random, but they have not released a motive. (WXII12)

  3. Jon Ziefle of Durham has achieved one of his personal goals by running every single street, trail, and greenway within the city limits of Durham. Durham is home to over 4,200 streets, and that does not include the trails and greenways, and since the start of 2021, Zeifle has ran nearly six days a week. Through this goal he got the opportunity to discover remnants of historic Durham.
  4. A Durham man was victim to gunfire as two cars behind him followed him, and began to open fire. The man in his 30s, was driving at the intersection of Holloway and Alston Avenue before 4:00 am on Sunday and sustained minor injuries as one bullet grazed the side of his face. (CBS17)
  5. Governor Roy Cooper has been formally chosen to lead the Democratic Governors Association next year after serving as vice-chair and chair-elect in 2021. (WAVY) The New York Times has also reported that donors are pushing Governor Cooper to run for president if President Joe Biden does not seek a second term. (WSOC-TV)

  • Duke Memorial Weekday School is hosting a dine-in/carry-out event at Pops Backdoor South. Mention DMWS at Pops from 5 pm until close to give some of your sale to the school.
