The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Durham.

Happy National Christmas Movie Marathon Day Durham!
First, today's weather:
Plenty of sun. High: 47 Low: 32.
Here are the top five stories in Durham today:
- Durham police have made an arrest in the October 28 shooting and death of Alexa Centeno. On Wednesday police said that Michael Samuel Sidney was arrested and charged with murder in Centeno's death and is now being held at the Durham County Detention Center without bond. (CBS17)
- The office space at 3114 Croasdaile Drive has been purchased for $3.4 million, with plans to redevelop the building into a new Veterans Outpatient Clinic. The space is 45,000 square feet and is located off Interstate 85. (Rebusiness Online)
- The Durham police union is hopeful that Police Chief Patrice Andrews will be able to fix deep issues of retention and recruitment among the police force. The Durham County Fraternal Order of Police believes that her short-term fix plans will be critical to fixing some of the issues that the department is facing. (abc11)
- Just days away from Christmas, the Streets at Southpoint is working to make sure that guests feel safe while shopping. The recent incidents have deterred some of the holiday traffic that it would typically see this time of year. The mall has responded by adding a firearm-detecting canine, Cigan, to the center's security program, and Durham police officers are increasing their presence. (abc11)
- Governor Roy Cooper has expressed that he plans to endorse Democrat Cheri Beasley for the U.S. Senate. Beasley's opponent Jeff Jackson dropped out of the race last week and endorsed Beasley. Cooper says that "the path is clear for her now." U.S. Rep. Ted Budd, former Governor Pat McCrory, and ex-Rep. Mark Walker are all vying for the Republican nomination. (WCNC)
