Human trafficking victims sought after suspect arrested by NC police (wxii12.com) — Fayetteville residents are being asked to help police identify additional victims of an alleged human trafficking network that investigators say operated from local motels, rentals, and online marketplaces. After arresting a 33-year-old suspect, Fayetteville Police are offering safe housing, medical and mental health care, legal help, and counseling to survivors who come forward.
   

2. Chemours to Pay $455 Million for Fayetteville Works Contamination (insideclimatenews.org) — Residents around Fayetteville should know Chemours will pay $455 million over 15 years to North Carolina and nearby communities for PFAS contamination tied to its Fayetteville Works plant. Cumberland County and the Fayetteville Public Works Commission plan to use their share for major water-filtration projects and expanded clean drinking water access, especially in heavily affected areas like Gray's Creek.
   

3. Advanced genetic testing cracks decades-old cold case, Fayetteville police say (cbs17.com) — Fayetteville police say advanced DNA testing has finally identified a suspect in a 1990 home invasion and rape, closing a case that has lingered over the city for decades. Although the suspect, a former Fort Bragg soldier, is now dead and won't face charges, detectives confirmed a DNA match this August and say they cannot release his name under state law.
   

4. Fayetteville Technical Community College, North Carolina Military Business Center announce executive leadership transition (specialtyfabricsreview.com) — Fayetteville Technical Community College is ushering in new leadership at the North Carolina Military Business Center, with founder Scott Dorney handing the reins to Martin "Jimmy" Hendrix III on Oct. 1. Based in Fayetteville, the center has helped secure thousands of federal contracts for North Carolina businesses, strengthening the defense economy and supporting military communities across the state.
   

5. 82nd Airborne Sgt. Sentenced for Gun Incident (oafnation.com) — An 82nd Airborne Division sergeant has been sentenced after pointing a loaded gun at another soldier inside his Fayetteville home and assaulting his estranged wife, an incident that also drew a response from Fayetteville police. The court-martial at Fort Bragg resulted in five months of confinement and a bad-conduct discharge, following Zarate's own admissions to colleagues, supervisors, and Army investigators.
