Opioid deaths rise in Fayetteville, city officials ask community the help fight the crisis (abc11.com) — Fayetteville officials say fatal opioid overdoses have already matched last year's total just nine months into 2026 and are urging residents to report drug activity and watch for signs of fentanyl exposure. Local counselors and police describe how fentanyl-laced drugs are driving deaths, while the On the Road Again center and C-FORT offer free naloxone and recovery support.
   

4. Woman Dies After Disturbance at Fayetteville Golden Corral as Police Investigate Fight, Possible Shots Fired, and Medical Emergency During Chaotic Afternoon Scene (centralrecorder.com) — A woman died after suffering a medical emergency during a chaotic disturbance at the Golden Corral on Skibo Road in Fayetteville, where police responded to reports of a fight and possible shots fired. Investigators say her death does not yet appear tied to injuries from the altercation, and they are still confirming whether any gunfire actually occurred.
   

5. Campaign finance claims cleared for BOE member (fayobserver.com) — Cumberland County Board of Elections secretary Bree Eldridge says she's been cleared after a state investigation found insufficient evidence that her $25,000 GOP donation involved illegal straw donors.
