Commissioners will review the terms in a public vote later, with local leaders suggesting residents of Gray's Creek and surrounding areas should find the outcome fair given years of polluted wells and costly water extensions.

2. Fayetteville State University Opens $69.3M Building Featuring STEM Lab To Prepare Teachers For Innovation (afrotech.com) — Fayetteville State University has opened a new $69.3 million College of Education building designed to better prepare future teachers with modern classrooms, labs, and a STEM innovation space. Funded by the N.C. General Assembly, the four-story facility will host the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program and strengthen partnerships with schools across the Fayetteville region.

3. 2026 Stars & Guitars Ticket Stop Calendar (wkml.com) — Fayetteville residents can snag electronic tickets to the 2026 Stars & Guitars show at multiple local ticket stops, including several along Skibo, Cliffdale, Morganton roads and at the Crown Expo Center. Each stop offers at least 10 pairs of tickets plus a chance to qualify for a VIP front-row experience, but you'll need your phone, location services, and a valid email to enter.

4. Data center moratorium count rises again (nsjonline.com) — North Carolina counties and cities are increasingly passing moratoriums on large data centers, and Fayetteville/Cumberland County is highlighted as one of three state case studies in organized opposition campaigns. A Bitcoin Policy Institute report says groups like PSL Fayetteville, Action NC, the Fayetteville NAACP, and Fayetteville Freedom for All have helped block billions in AI-related investments, even as national leaders argue such projects bring jobs and tax revenue.
