Town Common improvements move forward as Greenville completes bulkhead construction (wcti12.com) — Work on Greenville's Town Common is moving into its next phase now that the new bulkhead along the Tar River esplanade is finished, replacing a corroded 1960s structure. Crews are shifting to building retaining walls, overlooks and other upgrades that should make one of the city's most recognizable parks safer and more enjoyable for everyday use.

3. 19-year-old killed after car crashes into I-587 bridge pillar near Farmville (wcti12.com) — A deadly high-speed crash on I-587 near Farmville killed a 19-year-old driver and forced emergency crews to close eastbound lanes, drawing in Greenville-based medical responders. During the investigation, a second driver allegedly ignored closure warnings and struck a fire engine, injuring a firefighter who was taken to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, where the other driver was also hospitalized.

Court documents list multiple charges, including fleeing to elude arrest, larceny and possession of a stolen vehicle, open container, reckless driving and driving with an expired license.
