• UNC Baseball Lands First 2028 Commitment In Shortstop Tyler Jackson (tarheeltimes.com) — A Mebane native is already making waves in college baseball recruiting, as Southeastern Alamance High School shortstop and quarterback Tyler Jackson has committed to UNC’s 2028 class. The 5-foot-10 prospect, who also plays for the Dirtbags National travel team, becomes the Diamond Heels’ first pledge for that recruiting cycle. 
• King, Walter Layton (nps.gov) — A World War II-era Alamance County native, Walter Layton King lived in Mebane in the 1940s, where he registered for the draft before enlisting in the Army. The piece traces his move from rural Graham County to farming near Whitsett, his brief wartime service, and his later years in Burlington until his death in 1972.
