Coronavirus: Iredell County Playgrounds, Park Restrooms Closed

Parks remain open in Iredell County, but playgrounds are now closed as county officials urge residents to practice social distancing.

MOORESVILLE, NC — All playgrounds, park restrooms and water fountains are closed in Iredell County, the county’s parks and recreation department announced Wednesday morning. The new county mandate comes after Gov. Roy Cooper issued an executive order Monday banning groups of 50 or more throughout the state as a measure to help combat the spreading novel coronavirus outbreak.

The playground closures went into effect March 25 at 8 a.m.

“Our parks and trails are STILL OPEN at this time, although we still encourage the use of social distancing (6 feet) while at these facilities,” the Iredell County Parks and Recreation said. “We appreciate your understanding, patience, and cooperation!”
