Racial Justice Protests Planned In Mooresville: Details
The Saturday protests include a parade of cars passing the police station and a march from Town Hall to Moor Park.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Two peaceful, non-violent racial justice protests are set to take place in Mooresville Saturday. The events are planned as demonstrations continue throughout the Charlotte metro, state and nation denouncing police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis.
Floyd, 46, died May 25 after being stopped by Minneapolis police investigating a reported forgery. Video from the scene showed former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on a handcuffed Floyd's neck as Floyd cried out, saying he couldn't breathe.
Floyd's death has sparked days of protesting and street violence in every major city in the country, including several in North Carolina.
