MOORESVILLE, NC β This week, another highly entertaining cop lip sync video emerged in North Carolina, as well as a reminder that school will soon be back in session in Mooresville. A little girl was rescued by her father after a shark bit her leg along the North Carolina shore and a new tick capable of laying 2,000 eggs was discovered in our state.

Shooting Inside The City Limits, Shoplifting: Mooresville Police
Mooresville police made 21 arrests last week, including a 34-year old man for firing a gun inside city limits and a 27-year-old woman, who was arrested for shoplifting, according to the town's police blotter. Mooresville Police Department also arrested an 18-year-old man for assaulting a female, and reported eight drug arrests, six arrests for driving while impaired.

NC Shark Attack: Father Rescues Daughter After Bite
A father pulled his daughter to safety and out of the water along the North Carolina Outer Banks after she was bitten on the calf by what local authorities believe was a juvenile shark. The girl was bitten on her right leg around 10:30 a.m. as she was swimming on the east side of Bald Head Island Aug. 5 and started screaming when she reached a sandbar, according to reports.

New Tick Species That Lays 2,000 Eggs Found In NC
An Asian tick capable of reproducing at remarkable speed and gorging on so much blood that it kills itself has been found in North Carolina. It's the first new species of tick to be found in the United States in 50 years, the New York Times reports. The longhorned tick was first found on a white-tailed deer in Washington County in June and was confirmed on July 27, state health officials said.

Apparently peer pressure is a powerful thing for the men and women wearing blue. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers did it, and so did those in Mooresville. Now, cops in Winston-Salem have, too.
9-Year-Old Boy At Lemonade Stand Robbed At Gunpoint
Business at an organic lemonade stand in a Charlotte suburb turned sour Saturday afternoon when the 9-year-old boy running the concession stand at the entrance to his neighborhood was held up by a teenage boy who pressed a handgun to his stomach and demanded money.
5 Dates You Need to Know on the Mooresville Schools Calendar
The 2018-2019 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year. All Mooresville Graded School District students will be back in school by Aug. 27. The return is immediately followed by another break, with no school Monday, Sept. 3 (Labor Day).
