• Carolinas Grid Modernization Engine Earns Prestigious NSF Regional Innovation Engines Award (nc.gov) — Morganton is highlighted as the base for North Carolina's NSF Textile Innovation Engine, one of three major NSF-backed innovation hubs now in the state. A new Carolinas Grid Modernization Engine, led by UNC Charlotte, has just secured up to $160 million to modernize the electric grid, strengthen manufacturing, and expand workforce training across both Carolinas.
