• Volleyball Recap: Forbush Picks Up 19th Consecutive Win (maxpreps.com) — Mount Airy High’s volleyball team fell 3–0 to undefeated Forbush on Thursday, dropping the Bears to a 12–8 record despite a strong showing from freshman Adelyn Wall. The loss extends Forbush’s winning streak in the series, but Mount Airy quickly turns around to face Surry Central on Tuesday evening in another key local matchup.
   

• With worker shortage looming, NC pins hopes on community college initiatives (carolinapublicpress.org) — Mount Airy students and job‑seekers are part of a major statewide push to train more workers through Surry Community College’s tutoring center in town and the Surry‑Yadkin Works apprenticeship program. These efforts aim to keep young people in Surry County, connect them with local employers in trades, healthcare and education, and help North Carolina reach its goal of 2 million credentialed adults by 2030.
