• Highway 24 reopens after five-vehicle crash near Nine Mile Road in Carteret County (wcti12.com) — Emergency crews from Newport helped respond to a five-vehicle crash that shut down Highway 24 near Nine Mile Road Monday afternoon, with one vehicle overturning and the wreckage stretching over 100 yards. All lanes reopened about an hour later, and officials are urging drivers using neighborhood detours to slow down and obey posted speed limits.
