This new flyover exit in Suffolk aims to make Route 58 safer (pilotonline.com) — Drivers heading to the regional landfill along Route 58 in Suffolk now have a safer flyover exit instead of crossing three lanes of oncoming traffic. The fully SPSA-funded, $30 million project opens this week, with remaining work focused on closing the old median, drainage upgrades, and shoulder closures while crews finish environmental stabilization.

Forum urges Suffolk families to watch for trafficking signs (suffolknewsherald.com) — Families in Suffolk are being urged to watch for human trafficking warning signs after a weekend forum at King’s Fork High School led by the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office and Commonwealth’s Attorney. Local prosecutors, police, and social services staff explained how traffickers target youth online, why foster children face higher risks, and how residents can help spot and report concerns.

(pilotonline.com) — A transportation company is seeking state approval to run passenger service, including in Suffolk, and to provide non-emergency Medicaid transportation across Virginia. Residents who believe they could be affected have until July 22 to mail a formal written protest to DMV’s Motor Carrier Services office in Richmond.
