Durham, NC Ranks #2 for Best U.S. Cities for the 65+ Workforce

Working later in life has become a necessity for many Americans, but some cities make it easier to stay in the workforce beyond retirement age. A recent study from researchers at Coventry Direct determined the Best U.S. Cities for the 65+ workforce.

They looked at the top cities where older Americans can thrive in their careers based on various factors including labor force populations, income levels, unemployment rates, and job availability for those 65 and older.

The Bull City is among the top of this list, with a high rank of #2 Best City for 65+ Workforce, and its neighboring city, Raleigh, falling at a lower rank of 37. Durham has impressive job availability, with 52 jobs available per 100K people, the 7th most in the study. The average cost of commuting to work is 21% lower than the average, costing on average $6.12.
