Raleigh woman lives homeless for 48 hours as Wake County leaders tackle homelessness (abc11.com) — A Raleigh nonprofit leader is spending 48 hours without shelter to better understand homelessness and highlight hygiene needs among unhoused women in the city. Her experience comes as Raleigh and Wake County officials work to move people from encampments into permanent housing, offering at least a year of rental assistance and case management to help stabilize lives and reduce emergency calls.
   

2. Wake at Home connects 33 people from Raleigh encampment to housing (wral.com) — Residents from a recently closed Raleigh homeless encampment are moving into housing through Wake County's Wake at Home program, which has already connected 33 people with year-long rental subsidies and support services. Local partners including the City of Raleigh and area nonprofits coordinated intensive outreach and plan to expand the initiative to other encampments across the county.
   

3. NC Grandmother Forgives Raleigh Hit-and-Run Driver (thencbeat.com) — Raleigh police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run on Capital Boulevard that killed 25-year-old Raleigh resident Anas'jah Sharnae Leak, while her grandmother publicly forgave the accused driver. Officers say Leak was struck early Saturday and died at the scene, and a damaged car later stopped in Wake Forest led to felony charges against a Morrisville man.
   

4. Raleigh City Council delays teen curfew vote to hear from teens (cbs17.com) — Raleigh City Council has postponed its Sept. 15 vote on a proposed citywide teen curfew so members can first hear directly from young people. With juvenile crime up and concerns about safe spaces for teens, leaders are weighing curfew rules against expanded youth programs. Residents can attend a public meeting Oct. 12 at the Five Point Center for Active Adults.
