MindPath Care Centers Welcomes Dr. James Weiss
Psychiatrist Joins MindPath Care Centers' Chapel Hill Office Location

MindPath Care Centers, North Carolina’s largest outpatient mental and behavioral healthcare provider, is pleased to announce that James Weiss, M.D., has joined the team as a psychiatrist who will practice out of the Chapel Hill office located at 401 Providence Road, Suite 100. Prior to joining MindPath Care Centers, Dr. Weiss spent 10 years on the Clinical Faculty at Stanford University’s Medical Center as a psychiatric consultant to the Stanford inpatient pain program. In his role, Dr. Weiss will assist patients who are dealing with a variety of conditions including but not limited to ADD/ADHD, adjustment concerns, anxiety, cognitive disorder, depression, developmental disabilities, dissociative disorder, compulsive gambling, hoarding, OCD, pain disorder, personality disorder, postpartum depression, PTSD/trauma, reactive attachment disorder, sex/pornography addiction, somatoform disorder and helps develop coping skills to deal with the challenges they face.
“Over the past 10 years, I’ve had special interest in the psychiatric aspects of pain medicine, and have spent years as a general psychiatrist and psychotherapist with additional interests in post-traumatic stress disorders, including sexual, environmental and occupational traumas, anxiety, depression and couples issues,” said Dr. James Weiss, psychiatrist at MindPath Care Centers. “When treating patients, I look at what’s best for each individual whether that be the establishment of good medication practices or take a reflective therapy approach. I look forward to sharing my insights with my new colleagues and patients.”

In addition to working at Stanford, he's been Medical Director of two hospitals, on the clinical faculty and staff at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Stanford, and has had his own private practice. Additionally, Weiss trained at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute after going to Medical School at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. and is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
