Pilot program hopes to increase biker safety around Raleigh, but some argue it's not enough (wral.com) — Raleigh has installed recycled-rubber curb stops along Industrial Drive to test safer separation between bike lanes and car traffic, with data collection planned over the next six to nine months. City staff will study driver behavior, access, maintenance needs, and cyclists' safety to decide if this protection should expand to more Raleigh streets, especially around busy, higher-risk areas.
   

2. Raleigh is putting up signs marking the '4th Ward Entertainment District.' What is it? (newsobserver.com) — Downtown Raleigh is getting 44 colorful new signs marking the Fourth Ward Entertainment District around the convention center and performing arts center, highlighting a historically Black neighborhood largely erased by 1970s urban renewal. Longtime advocate Octavia Rainey and local historians see the signs and a new exhibit as a long-awaited step toward recognition, while continuing to push developers and city leaders for deeper acknowledgment.
   

3. Raleigh council to consider 6-month moratorium on data centers. What we know (newsobserver.com) — Raleigh residents may soon see a pause on new data center proposals, as City Council prepares to vote next month on a six-month moratorium and hold a public hearing at the municipal building. The move follows a withdrawn Jones Sausage Road project and growing neighborhood concerns about environmental and quality-of-life impacts from large facilities.
   

4. Where's Jamail? In Raleigh, Where Kids Are Ready to Book Air Taxis (generalaviationnews.com) — Raleigh high school students just got a boost in aviation and engineering opportunities as the DreamLaunch Tour kicked off its new season here, supporting a free STEM program run by a local nonprofit. The FAA's aviation education ambassador spoke to more than 1,000 students about careers, scholarships, and fast-growing fields like electric air taxis, while encouraging community members to help mentor the next generation.
   

5. Free screenings and filmmaking discussions with PBS North Carolina - A Life Reimagined: The George Masa Story on Oct. 6 - Triangle on the Cheap (triangleonthecheap.com) — Raleigh film and history fans can attend a free screening of PBS North Carolina's new documentary, A Life Reimagined: The George Masa Story, at the North Carolina Museum of Art on October 6. The evening includes the film, a discussion with filmmaker Paul Bonesteel, and an audience Q&A, but you'll need to register in advance to reserve a seat.
