• U.S. energy secretary stoked on coal during visit to Duke Energy's Roxboro power plant (wunc.org) — Duke Energy’s Roxboro coal plant just received about $62 million in federal funds for maintenance, easing costs for North Carolina ratepayers even as the utility plans to end coal use statewide by 2040. During a Friday visit, the U.S. energy secretary praised coal’s historic role while acknowledging Roxboro Station is slated for full conversion to natural gas by 2034.
