• Man charged with kidnapping and strangulation (wilsontimes.com) — Wilson police have charged a local man in connection with two separate incidents involving alleged assault, kidnapping, and strangulation, leading to his arrest and detention without bond. He later appeared in Wilson County District Court, where a judge set a high secured bond and ordered no contact with a victim. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Wilson Police or Crime Stoppers. 
• Commissioners sign off on housing developments (wilsontimes.com) — Wilson County commissioners have approved three new residential subdivisions, adding more than 60 planned homes near Lucama, I-795 and New Sandy Hill Church Road that will rely on county water and private septic systems. Leaders also celebrated major awards for county communications, 911, public health and human resources, and announced Ashley Anderson will become county attorney July 1 as longtime attorney Steve Beaman steps down.
• Tigers' Perry to continue career at Louisburg (wilsontimes.com) — Wilson Prep football standout Christian Perry, who moved to Wilson from New Jersey less than two years ago, is taking his state-championship experience to Louisburg College. The 6-foot-7 lineman credits Wilson family ties, Tigers teammates and coach Phillip Dickens for turning football from a casual activity into a life-changing passion and college opportunity.
