Coronavirus In Ohio: 1,261 New Cases, 6 New Deaths

Ohio again confirmed more than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours.

COLUMBUS, OH — Officials confirmed nearly 1,200 new cases of COVID-19 in Ohio on Monday, the state health department announced.

Gov. Mike DeWine has been urging Ohioans to don masks whenever they leave the house due to a surge in new COVID-19 cases. Over the past three weeks, officials have confirmed more than 1,000 new cases per day. Since the beginning of the pandemic, nearly 67,000 Ohioans have contracted the virus.

Twelve Ohio counties are currently classified as "red," meaning there is "very high" spread of COVID-19 locally. Those counties are under a mandatory mask mandate.

Other COVID-19 metrics were trending down or level on Monday. Over the past 24 hours, has seen significantly less deaths than the state has averaged per day over the past three weeks. Hospitalizations and intensive care admissions related to the virus held level.
