CitiCenter apartment construction begins in downtown Akron (signalakron.org) — Downtown Akron's historic CitiCenter building is officially being transformed into more than 100 new apartments, with construction now underway on the $37 million project. Local leaders say the redevelopment will boost tax revenue, add housing options, and continue Welty Enterprises' string of investments aimed at revitalizing Akron's core over the next several years.
   

2. Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank calls on Northeast Ohio to play its part this Hunger Action Month (akron.com) — Akron residents are being asked to step up this September as the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank marks Hunger Action Month with donation matches, volunteer shifts, and awareness campaigns. With as many as one in seven neighbors at risk of hunger, the foodbank highlights ways locals can give, serve, and speak out to help families across Northeast Ohio.
   

3. Akron Children's expands inpatient behavioral health, adds crisis stabilization unit (akron.com) — Families in Akron now have expanded access to pediatric behavioral health care, as Akron Children's has opened a larger 30-bed inpatient unit with room to grow to 40 beds. The move adds a new crisis stabilization unit where parents stay with their child, aiming to shorten some hospital stays and ease long waits for mental health services across the region.
   

4. Central-Hower grads remember school that shaped them (signalakron.org) — Central-Hower alumni from across Akron are sharing powerful memories as their former downtown high school is transformed into H+ART, a new community arts hub. Graduates recall championship basketball, strong arts and vocational programs, and a diverse, supportive environment they hope will be honored as the building gains new life in Akron's core.
