Pedestrian dies after being hit during heavy rainstorm in Southeast Columbus (abc6onyourside.com) — A pedestrian died after being hit by a car early Saturday on Gender Road near Nottinghill Trail Drive on Columbus's Southeast Side. Police say the driver was heading south during a heavy rainstorm before sunrise and didn't initially realize they'd struck someone; the victim later died at a nearby hospital as the investigation continues.
   

2. Man indicted on multiple charges after 79-year-old man dies in south side hit-skip crash (abc6onyourside.com) — A Columbus man has been indicted on multiple felony charges after a June 25 parking-lot crash behind 3797 South High Street led to the death of 79-year-old Kenneth James. Columbus police say James was ejected from his three-wheeler after a Cadillac struck it, and he later died at Grant Medical Center, prompting an Accident Investigation Unit response and grand jury action.
   

3. Black Tech Week exits Cincinnati after five-year run (local12.com) — Columbus has been chosen to host Black Tech Week in 2027, bringing a major conference for Black and Brown tech founders, funders, and entrepreneurs to the city next July. After a five-year run in Cincinnati, organizers are shifting the event's economic and networking opportunities to Columbus, with exact dates and venue details still to come.
   

4. Ohio State Honors Seniors and Tressel in Week One Rout (whiznews.com) — Fans at Ohio Stadium in Columbus had extra to cheer about as Ohio State opened its football season with a dominant home win. The Buckeyes honored 30 seniors on an early Senior Day and celebrated former coach and current lieutenant governor Jim Tressel's induction into the program's ring of honor, energizing local supporters.
