Columbus City Attorney sues operators of 3 illegal east-side bars (abc6onyourside.com) — Columbus residents on the east side may see changes at the Crossroads Shopping Center, where the city attorney is suing operators of three alleged illegal bars after dozens of police calls for violence and disorder. With liquor permits revoked and a covert investigation documenting continued alcohol sales, the city is seeking a court injunction at an October 14 hearing to curb ongoing problems.

2. East Side man wanted in fatal shooting surrenders to Columbus police (dispatch.com) — Columbus residents should know that a 32-year-old East Side man accused in a fatal double shooting outside Prime Ultra Lounge has surrendered to city police and is now in Franklin County custody. He faces murder and felonious assault charges in the death of 39-year-old Jeffrey Amaker and the critical wounding of a relative after an early-morning parking lot fight.

3. AI Youth Summit introduces children to new technology (nbc4i.com) — Columbus high school students gathered at COSI for an A.I. Youth Summit that gave them hands-on experience with emerging technologies and real-world workforce skills. 4. Why a cow is Ohio State's homecoming parade grand marshal (nbc4i.com) — Ohio State's 2026 homecoming parade in Columbus will feature Maudine, a Holstein cow, as grand marshal in a playful nod to a legendary 1926 cow "homecoming queen." 5. Ohio family's basement flooded twice with sewage in just 3 months, damage costs now run into tens of thousands (thecooldown.com) — A Columbus family says their basement-level bedroom flooded twice with sewage in three months, causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage they fear insurance won't fully cover. They're questioning the city's Project Dry Basement program, which offers anti-flood valves but requires homeowners to waive current and future damage claims tied to city sewer backups.
