Local Rep. Phil Plummer and Dayton's police chief described how current placements strain officers and neighborhoods, while legislators weigh shifting toward larger facilities with more comprehensive services.
   

2. Defense contractor Sumaria Systems moves to Dayton (wdtn.com) — A major defense contractor, Sumaria Systems, is relocating its corporate headquarters to Dayton, bringing a new facility and expanded digital engineering lab to the Miami Valley. Leaders say the move will improve support for military customers while deepening the company's local investment, potentially creating new high-tech jobs and strengthening the region's defense industry footprint.
   

3. Dayton Literary Peace Prize Announces 2026 Winners (publishingperspectives.com) — Dayton will host the 2026 Dayton Literary Peace Prize awards the weekend of November 7–8, celebrating authors whose books promote peace, social justice, and global understanding. The foundation has also selected novelist Ann Patchett for its distinguished achievement honor, bringing national literary attention and visitors to the city this fall.
   

4. TJ Chumps launches drone delivery experience in Kettering (dayton247now.com) — Dayton-area tech is taking flight as TJ Chumps in Kettering partners with local company Dexa to offer drone delivery for nearby customers, including parts of Oakwood and Centerville. Residents within about three miles of the Kettering restaurant can now order meals online and, weather permitting, watch them arrive by drone, showcasing innovation developed right in the Dayton area.
