1. Elyria man charged with online threats during Kerstetter 5K race enters insanity plea (chroniclet.com) — An Elyria resident has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity after allegedly posting online threats toward Elyria police officers and Mayor Kevin Brubaker during July's Kerstetter 5K memorial race. He remains jailed on high bond facing a terroristic threats charge and related misdemeanors, while a judge considers a defense request for a mental health evaluation ahead of a January trial.
   

2. Elyria Public Library System seeking community input with online survey (morningjournal.com) — Elyria residents are being asked to help shape the Elyria Public Library System's long-term priorities through a new online survey launching Sept. 25. The brief questionnaire, open to all Elyria and LaGrange residents regardless of library card status, will guide goals for services, programs, and communications as the system plans through the end of the decade.
   

3. Elyria Police Department launches K-12 Community Champion Award (morningjournal.com) — Elyria families can now nominate local K–12 students for the new Community Champion Award, created by the Elyria Police Department to honor kids in Elyria City Schools or who live in the city. Nominations are open year-round, with students recognized quarterly for leadership, kindness, and positive choices that strengthen relationships between youth and local officers.
   

4. Elyria Catholic vs. Independence volleyball: Panthers overcome adversity, slow start to beat small-school juggernaut Blue Devils (morningjournal.com) — Elyria Catholic's volleyball team shook off lineup disruptions and an early stumble to sweep small-school powerhouse Independence on Sept. 23, led by 13 kills from Ari Dimacchia. The Panthers, now 9-1, will return to North Coast Conference play by hosting NDCL on Sept. 29 as coach Laurie Cogan continues to fine-tune rotations before the postseason.
   

5. Cleveland police officer arrested in Internet Crimes Against Children investigation (wkyc.com) — An Elyria resident who works as a Cleveland police officer has been arrested on charges tied to an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation and is due in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on Thursday morning. The officer has been relieved of duty while prosecutors pursue importuning and related charges stemming from alleged online communications with an undercover officer posing as a minor.
