Bomb threat suspect arrested in Georgia: WTAP reports that a man in Thomson, GA is responsible for a rash of bomb threats to area schools. Eighteen-year-old Nicholas John Frances Hall was arrested in McDuffie County, GA yesterday. Deputies say he used a spoofed number to make bomb threats and get his girlfriend out of school. He allegedly made threats to schools in Washington, Athens, Noble, and Monroe Counties. He's charged with inciting panic and making a terroristic threat.

Senator Rob Portman is trying to stop large unemployment checks: Jo Ingles of the Statehouse News Bureau reports that U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio says good jobs are available, but many aren't taking them because of the fat unemployment checks they're getting. He wants the state to stop providing the $300 weekly federal unemployment checks, and start giving a $100 signing bonus to folks who take jobs.

Marietta's Salvation Army is changing leadership: Michael Blahut of WTAP reports that Elisha and Megan Moretz will be transferring soon. They will be switching to Salvation Army in Upstate New York. The new commanding officers will be the Hughes, they're Ohio natives.

Alex Dimon is named Most Outstanding Sprinter/Hurdler: This week, the league office named Marietta College track star Alex Dimon the Harrison Dillard Most Outstanding Hurdler/Sprinter of the Ohio Athletic Conference. He won this award after winning twice in the OAC Conference Tournament. Dimon ranks second in the NCAA Division III standings for the 110-meter hurdles. The track and field team will return to the track and field on Friday for the Harrison Dillard Twilight meet.

The Etta Express put up two more Ws: Yesterday, the Marietta College baseball won both games of a doubleheader against Heidelberg University. They won the first game 7-6, the second game they won 12-2, it was called in the seventh inning. The Pioneers are now 28-4 overall and 26-3 in the OAC. Their regular season will come to a close this weekend after a four-game series against the University of Mount Union.
