Marietta historical tidbit of the day:
During World War II there was a Civilian Conservation Corps camp on the outskirts of town, near Reno. This camp was among one of the first organizations like it in the nation, it was set up for conscientious objectors. So young men and women whose beliefs forbade military combat worked at the camp instead. There was an incident where a couple of Jehovah's Witnesses were passing out anti-war literature and got into a scuffle with a soldier and another man. The Jehovah's Witnesses were transferred to a camp in California after that.
